A study on radiation shielding potentials of green and red clayey soils in Turkey reinforced with marble dust and waste tire

The increasing radiation applications in our daily life makes it essential to protect ourselves from the harms of by using alternative, cheap and natural materials. present study aimed analyze shielding abilities green red clayey soils Oltu/Erzurum Turkey, reinforced with waste tires marble dust. For purpose investigate features samples, attenuation parameters were determined EpiXS software, which can calculate partial or total cross-sections, mass coefficients, electron densities, effective atomic numbers, buildup factors for energy absorption exposure between 1keV 1GeV. We compared obtained coefficients cross-section values samples those a widely used material, ordinary concrete, make meaningful evaluation about potentials samples. To validate EpiXS, we also calculated XCOM code, compatible results obtained. Among all studied soil clay dust tire has highest capability. It be mentioned that reinforcement improves ability soils.
